At The Pet Care Club of Central PA, we’re all about keeping tails wagging — and that includes snack time! Making your own dog treats at home is an easy, budget-friendly way to spoil your pup with something healthy and delicious. Plus, you’ll know exactly what’s going into them — no mystery ingredients here, just wholesome, dog-approved goodness.
🾠Why Make Treats at Home?
Homemade treats are a fun little project for you (and a tasty reward for your pup). Here’s why we love them:
- You control the ingredients — no preservatives or artificial stuff.
- Perfect for dogs with allergies or sensitive stomachs.
- You can customize flavors your dog already loves.
- They’re made with love, and trust us, dogs can taste the difference!

🌠Peanut Butter & Banana Dog Treats
Ingredients:
- 1 ripe banana
- ½ cup natural peanut butter (make sure it’s xylitol-free)
- 1 large egg
- 1½ cups whole wheat flour (oat flour works too!)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Mash the banana in a large bowl until smooth.
- Add peanut butter and the egg, then stir until blended.
- Mix in the flour slowly until it forms a dough. If it’s too sticky, sprinkle in a bit more flour.
- Roll out the dough to about ¼-inch thick.
- Cut out shapes using your favorite cookie cutters — paw prints, bones, hearts, whatever makes you smile!
- Bake on a parchment-lined cookie sheet for 15–20 minutes or until golden.
- Cool completely before serving or storing.
🶠Storage Tips:
- Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
- Keep in the fridge for up to two weeks.
- Freeze extras for up to three months — perfect for a quick grab-and-go treat!
💡 Fun Flavor Swaps:
Want to mix it up? Try:
- Pumpkin purée instead of banana (great for digestion!)
- Oatmeal flour for sensitive pups
- Parsley or mint to freshen breath
